JShawfurniture and lighting design was started by Jesse Shaw a designer craftsman of 17 years. His work has been featured in Fine Woodworking Magazine and has been displayed in museums, galleries, and private collections. Traditionally trained at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine he honed his woodworking skills under the tutelage of master craftsmen. He attended design school at the Savannah College of Art and Design and was selected to study with notable furniture designers in Milan, Italy. After graduating, Jesse became the lead furniture designer for Currey & Company in Atlanta, GA. There, he would design 150 pieces a year and travel to many factories around the world discovering new fascinating manufacturing methods and techniques. The combination of traditional woodworking, modern manufacturing and design left a powerful impression that he infuses into his work. Jesse has been featured in The Boston Globe and appeared on PBS's Rough Cut Woodworking. He is best known for his award-winning Prometheus Lamps and his innovative process of creating wood lights. He makes limited small-batch designs and builds custom furniture and lighting in Boston MA.
